The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience; certification such as chainsaw, forklift, or bucket truck is preferred, and a Class C license plus DOT Physical must be obtained within 90 days.

The salary for this position is the minimum of the range. This position works independently to perform a range of manual labor and other tasks in support of County activities by performing the following essential functions with limited supervision.
Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers written in English.Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.Ability to perform these operations using standard units of weight, measurement, volume, time, and distance.Ability to use fractions and percentages.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work activities.Ability to work independently on a day-to-day basis.
Possession of a Class C Motor Vehicle Operator’s License issued by the Maryland MVA (or equivalent), DOT Physical Certification Card is required within 90 days of hire.
The following National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training is required within the first year of employment:

This position is one within the Queen Anne’s County Civil Service System. An employee must serve a period of twelve months probation during which he or she may be terminated without notice, cause, hearing or right of appeal.
