Job summary

My County Parks in Carroll, IA is seeking a full-time maintenance technician under general supervision to maintain and repair park facilities and equipment, operate heavy machinery, and support natural resource management across all park sites.

The role also involves organizing work with staff, opening and closing parks, and supervising seasonal crews, with requirements including lifting 75 pounds, outdoor work in all weather, and relevant licenses/certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum two year degree in a conservation or natural resource related field or high school diploma with a minimum two years work experience in a conservation related field.
• Must have or be able to obtain Iowa Class A CDL with air brake endorsement and Iowa driver license.
• Must have or be able to obtain a category six pesticide applicator license and S130/S190 prescribed wildland fire certification.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance of buildings and facilities including construction, plumbing, electrical, welding and fabrication.
• Grounds maintenance such as mowing, trimming, tree trimming, hauling gravel, garbage removal, snow removal.
• Operate heavy equipment (dump trucks, tractors, skid loader, mini excavator, wheel loaders).
• Perform basic plumbing tasks (sinks, toilets, pipe work, drains).
• Maintain and repair vehicles, mowers, engines, trailers and heavy equipment.
