***This is a part time position in the Maintenance Department at Mount Magazine State Park and pays $14.00 per hour***
Job duties include assisting with general grounds keeping and light maintenance duties throughout the park. The primary focus of this position will be the care and maintenance of the grounds and native flower gardens located at the Lodge and Visitor Center. Duties include weeding, watering, planting, pruning, mulching, edging, deadheading, monitoring plant health, and general garden upkeep. Other duties include maintaining garden paths, borders, and surrounding areas in a clean and attractive condition; daily maintenance and monitoring of the lodge garden water feature; assisting with annual park cleanup events and helping supervise park volunteers. This position will operate and maintain basic landscaping and maintenance equipment such as hand tools, wheelbarrows, hoses, trimmers, mowers, weed eaters, and other equipment as needed.
The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors and can perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, digging, and standing or walking for extended periods, takes pride in maintaining beautiful landscapes and has an appreciation for native plants and wildlife. The ideal candidate is also able to work independently and take initiative while following established guidelines. Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

The Park Specialist is responsible for assisting in the daily maintenance, visitor services, and conservation efforts within Arkansas state parks. This role ensures that park facilities, landscapes, and public areas are well-maintained, safe, and accessible for visitors. The Park Specialist also provides customer service, educates guests on park regulations, and supports recreation programs to enhance the overall visitor experience.
At least six months of experience customer service, bookkeeping, retail operations, or a related field.

Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
