Job summary

City of Denison is seeking a Park Services Supervisor to lead crews in the maintenance of parks, athletic facilities, and recreation events. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, coaching, safety administration, and coordinating with residents and contractors.

The role requires experience supervising teams, strong communication, and adherence to City policies. Occasional after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma/GED.
• At least three (3) years combined work experience in general maintenance, park maintenance, turf management, and/or park operations, preferred.
• At least three (3) years of supervision of others or equivalent leadership experience.
• Must have valid commercial driver’s license at placement or within 6 months.
• Must have driving record sufficient for City’s auto liability carrier.

Responsibilities

• Under limited oversight, identifies work to be performed as prioritized and outlined by the Park Services Supervisor.
• Holds responsibility for the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of Parks’ crews work.
• Plans and assigns work based on set goals and priorities.
• Schedules, assigns, directs, monitors and assists the work of employees and use of equipment engaged in maintaining parks, athletic facilities, recreation activities, and special events.
• Supervises and organises the work of crew members and ensures safe, correct operations.
• Establishes policies, methods and procedures for crews.
• Inspects activities and ensures quality and efficiency.
• Coaches subordinates per City values and policies.
• Assists with employee evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Interviews and makes recommendations for staff recruitment.
• Maintains and repairs park playgrounds, benches, tables, etc.
• Administers internal safety program and maintains records.
• Monitors equipment utilization and recommends replacements.
• Requisitions and maintains supplies; coordinates with maps, blueprints, or manuals.
• Coordinates with employees, supervisors, stakeholders, contractors and residents.
• Provides customer service and resolves complaints; may handle irate individuals.
• Serves as acting Park Services Supervisor as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
