Job summary

City of Rowlett, TX is seeking a hands-on Parks Maintenance Supervisor to lead a small crew in the upkeep of parks, athletic fields, and public grounds. You will plan projects, coordinate materials and equipment, and ensure work meets department standards and safety rules.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of related experience with supervisory responsibilities, and the ability to operate landscape tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED required.
• Three years of related experience, supervisory experience preferred.
• Good knowledge of ground maintenance, irrigation maintenance, athletic field maintenance and renovation, horticulture, and best turf cultural maintenance practices.
• Ability to provide leadership; assign responsibilities, coordinate, monitor and follow through on job assignments.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, leads, and directs a small crew in the maintenance, repair, and construction of parks, park amenities, public grounds, irrigation systems, plant material, athletic fields; plans, organizes projects, and performs related work as required.
• Coordinates activities of assigned crew and repairs, maintains construction activities, ensures materials, tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and scheduled for use; enforces department rules and policies; trains subordinates to perform park maintenance operations safely.
• Inspects equipment and performs preventative maintenance; completes service requests and maintains records.
• Maintains inventory, initiates purchase requisitions, and supervises maintenance/repair of park structures and equipment; operates machinery as needed.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record; CDL or related licenses may be preferred; report traffic citations as required.
