Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking a Community Builder to support City-owned recreational facilities and programs. You will assist in activities, distribute equipment, and help records for participation while reporting to a supervisor in a role with limited supervision and varied duties.

Minimum education is a high school diploma and one year of recreation experience. A Florida driver license is required within 30 days; ARC First Aid/CPR/AED are required within six months; WSI/LG and CYSA

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED and one year recreation experience.
• Knowledge of goals of community recreation programs.
• Ability to work with co-workers and the public.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech.

Responsibilities

• Assists in conducting activities.
• Distributes equipment for programs and events.
• Records attendance and participation for facility programs and events.
• Assists in maintaining order and discipline.
• Checks equipment to ensure proper working order.
• Assists in instructing sewing, ceramics, arts and crafts, dancing, and games.
• Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.
