Job summary

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the United States seeks a Natural Resources Specialist (Ranger) to manage and implement interpretive programs, ensure visitor safety, and oversee project activities in recreation areas.

The role includes coordinating with law enforcement and ensuring compliance with Title 36 CFR regulations. Qualified candidates will have a relevant bachelor’s degree and may be evaluated on specialized experience in natural resources projects, public outreach, or habitat

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines.
• Experience or education requirements vary by position and may include combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans and oversees the construction for the rehabilitation of campsites, picnic sites, roads, and associated structures in recreation areas.
• Assigns and explains work requirements to subordinate team members for new or changed programs, functions, goals, and processes.
• Responsible for the administration, direction, management and control of interpretive programs for visitors.
• Promotes safe working conditions and assures that project personnel receive proper safety training.
• Enforces Title 36 CFR by educating the visiting public on project purposes, conditions, policies and regulations.
• Deals with the public in high stress emotional situations and coordinates with law enforcement agencies.

Education

Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position
