Job summary

Office of State Parks (OSP) in Fontainebleau State Park, Mandeville, LA, seeks a Park Ranger. The role enforces laws, protects visitors and assets, and may involve emergencies and investigations. Training including POST and First-Aid/CPR is part of the progression.

Qualifications

• No experience or training required.

Responsibilities

• Protects park visitors by enforcing federal, state, and local laws and park rules and regulations.
• Performs emergency duties to protect human life, government property, and natural features of the site.
• Investigates incidents and/or complaints within park boundaries.
• Works with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and district attorneys in arrest and prosecution of individuals.
• Provides security by patrolling and inspecting the site by vehicle, foot, bicycle, and boat.
• Assists overnight guests during their stay by performing customer service duties.
• Provides tourism information and local directions to park visitors.
• Performs maintenance, custodial, inspections, and/or fee collection tasks as needed.
• Prepares and maintains incident reports and recordings related to law enforcement duties.
• Completes required training including POST certification and First-Aid/CPR.
• Works on special details/events with various agencies.
