Job summary

City of Kirkwood in Missouri is hiring two part-time Park Rangers to patrol parks and facilities, assist the public, and enforce park rules and ordinances. Roles include patrolling Kirkwood City Park, Greentree Park, and community centers, providing directions, and ensuring safety for park users.

Applicants must have a valid driver's license, be able to obtain CPR certification, and be at least 21 to obtain security licensure; three years of security or related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Willingness to obtain CPR certification where required.
• Must be at least 21 years old to obtain Security Officer license and renewals.
• Minimum of three years' experience in security, military, or law enforcement preferred.
• Must have working knowledge of desktop and laptop computers and smartphone apps.

Responsibilities

• Patrol grounds, buildings and related facilities using a patrol vehicle.
• Document activities through daily logs and reports.
• Secure buildings, equipment, and grounds; ensure park closing procedures.
• Assist patrons with directions, information and assistance as needed.
• Issue warnings and tickets for violations of park rules and City ordinances.
• Assist department staff at concessions, centers, and facilities when requested.
• Monitor lighting and field conditions; adjust schedules as needed.
• Update rainout line and communicate changes to staff and patrons.
• Provide security for special events and emergencies within City boundaries.
