Job summary

The State of North Carolina - Division of Parks and Recreation seeks a Park Ranger I (S) at Lumber River State Park in Orrum, NC. The role focuses on education, resource management, and public safety through patrols and community programming.

Candidates must meet education requirements or an equivalent combination, obtain LE certification within a year, and be willing to work a varied schedule including weekends and holidays. Housing may be available in some positions.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Law Enforcement Officer certification within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Research park resources and develop management plans including prescribed fire and invasive species removal.
• Prepare and conduct environmental interpretation and education programming.
• Perform emergency medical response and rescue operations in parks.
• Maintain park facilities and perform routine operations and administration.
• Issue facility permits and supervise seasonal staff.
