Job summary

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) oversees the State Parks in Florida, including Long Key and Curry Hammock State Parks. The role supports visitor services, maintenance, and administrative duties at Layton, Florida, with responsibilities across operations, safety and compliance.

Candidates must complete Ranger Academy and pass background checks; a valid driver’s license is required, and the job involves rotating shifts and field work in a public setting.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform house and grounds keeping duties and maintenance trades.
• Must be able to perform routine inspections and maintain facilities and equipment.
• Experience operating cash registers and POS systems; operate trucks and mowers.

Responsibilities

• Explain park facilities, services and directions to visitors.
• Provide interpretive programs and tours; conduct campfire programs.
• Maintain grounds, facilities and trails; repair small structures as needed.
• Prepare forms and reports on fees, receipts, incidents and wildlife sightings.
• Enforce park rules and ensure visitor safety.
