Job summary

The City of Avondale (AZ) is hiring a Park Ranger within the Avondale Police Department. This non-sworn role will patrol parks, enforce parks rules, and provide front-line service to visitors.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Arizona driver license, and the ability to pass a field training program and background checks. Candidates should be prepared to complete TOC within 6 months, wear safety gear, and support animal control activities as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of experience as a park ranger, animal control officer, community services officer, or related field.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• A valid Arizona Operator's Driver License.
• Must complete and pass field training; TOC within 6 months.
• Must pass background, polygraph, and fingerprint checks.

Responsibilities

• Patrol City parks and trails to maintain safety and assist visitors.
• Enforce City ordinances related to Parks & Recreation area usage.
• Assist Animal Control Unit as backup; respond to animal-related calls.
• Provide security at parks and City events; maintain logs and communicate via radio.
• Respond to emergencies and traffic incidents as needed; coordinate with Police/Fire.
