Job summary

The Department of Game Fish & Parks is seeking a Conservation Technician to lead facility maintenance across Newton Hills State Park, reporting to Canton, SD. The role involves concrete, electrical, plumbing, carpentry work and supervising seasonal staff to keep facilities clean, safe and accessible for visitors.

Applicants should have experience or training in park maintenance, a chemical applicator certification, and a valid driver's license; CDL is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience or formal training in maintenance of a state park.
• Certification as chemical applicator.
• CDL preferred.
• Ability to lead seasonal staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and management of facilities at Newton Hills State Park and District 8.
• Inspect and supervise seasonal staff to ensure cleanliness, safety and readiness for public use.
• Perform concrete, electrical, plumbing, carpentry tasks as needed.
• Maintain equipment, vehicles and park facilities, including winter preparation and safety checks.
• Prepare reports on vehicle and equipment usage and weed spray records.
