Job Description and Duties
PARK MAINTENANCE CHIEF I / ANGELES DISTRICT / TOPANGA SECTOR / TRIPPET RANCH

Please be advised: Pending ongoing negotiations with LA County, the reporting location may change to Dockweiler State Beach and/or Will Roger State Beach.

The reporting location for this position is Trippet Ranch 20828 Estrada Rd., Topanga, CA, 90290. This position will work under the general direction of the Park Maintenance Chief III.

This position works under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Chief Ill. The reporting location is at Dockweiler State Beach. This position works under the general direction of the Park Maintenance Chief III. The Park Maintenance Chief I has the authority and responsibility to plan, supervise and direct the overall maintenance program. This position manages the daily housekeeping, facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, equipment management and related functions. This position provides leadership, supervision, training, and employee development opportunities to the staff. The incumbent maintains cooperative professional relationships within the community in order to further the philosophy and purposes of the State Park System and ensure clear direct liaison is maintained with local, State, Federal and outside entities with similar roles and responsibilities. The Park Maintenance Chief I works directly with District, Headquarters staff and is responsible to keep District management informed of progress on projects, controversial or sensitive issues and the overall status of the program. This position is required to work weekends, nights, holidays, and irregular hours. The incumbent may be required to work at all park locations in the Angeles District. Travel throughout the district is required. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered. This position is designated as NOT Telework Eligible.

Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Working Conditions

Work environment is an office/contact station setting, using computers, telephone and other business equipment. Typical work activities involve frequent and prolonged periods of sitting. Typical work involves extended telephone conversations and keyboard operation. Must meet many deadlines within short time frames. Hand dexterity to use telephone, keyboard and calculators are common requirements. Move about, stand, reach, stoop or bend. Use fine motor skills for computer or office machine use. Lift supply boxes minimum weight of 10 pounds to maximum weight of 50 pounds. Use of hand cart to move supplies over 10 pounds of weight. Requires reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties. May involve some exposure to aggressive visitors. Will work outdoors in unpredictable weather ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold. May come in contact with wild animals. This is a uniformed position, uniform standards must be met. Must be willing to work weekends, nights, and holidays as necessary.
