Job description

Job Overview:

Operates landscaping and construction heavy equipment to ensure the completion of landscaping and snow removal projects, providing a safe and attractive environment for community members and businesses.

Responsibilities:
  1. Operate all heavy landscaping and construction equipment for large-scale landscaping, snow removal, and operational tasks. Maintain landscaping areas, including mowing, planting, fertilizing, and irrigating (seasonal). Maintain community parks and repair equipment. Remove snow and ice from walkways and driveways (seasonal). Assist with trash pickup and removal.
  2. Perform maintenance and repairs on asphalt on community streets and roadside cleanup. Maintain street signs. Conduct outdoor striping of parking lots, garages, and roadways, including layout and removal of lines as needed.
  3. Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and ensure safety devices are functional on heavy equipment.
  4. Respond to complaints about stray or dangerous animals and assist in animal recovery.
  5. Support special events (e.g., Pow Wow, cultural camp) with grounds maintenance, garbage control, pest control, and vendor setup/teardown.
  6. Assist other departments with special projects.
Job Requirements:
  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. At least two years of experience operating commercial landscaping and heavy construction equipment.
  3. Class A CDL Driver's License (preferred) — training provided within 1 year of hire.
  4. Two years of experience in landscape construction and maintenance.
  5. Industrial Truck Driving permit (forklift), if required.
  6. Ability to work in various climate conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  7. Proficiency in safety practices, especially when handling fumes, chemicals, odors, and noise.
  8. Physical ability to perform job duties with or without accommodations, including handling and lifting up to 75 lbs., and performing motions such as bending, squatting, crawling, kneeling, twisting, pulling, and pushing.
