Job summary

County of Santa Clara is seeking a skilled heavy equipment operator under general supervision to operate a variety of machinery in county parks and open space areas. You will help construct, maintain, and repair park facilities, trails, and habitats across a wide geographic area.

The role requires two years of experience with heavy equipment and a valid Class A CDL, plus the ability to lead crews, follow safety procedures, and perform routine maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience operating heavy equipment with a Class A CDL.
• May be required to complete additional certifications such as AWS welding or forklift within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of heavy equipment to construct, restore, maintain, and repair park facilities and open space areas.
• Inspects job sites for hazards and ensures safe operation of equipment.
• Performs minor repairs and routine maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Maintains records of work performed and equipment used.
