Job summary

The Oak Lawn Park District is hiring a Park Groundsman I Turf Grass to maintain park turf and supervise seasonal staff. This full-time hourly, non-exempt position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work. Duties include mowing, edging, litter removal, and assisting with sports field preparation.

Qualified applicants are at least 18 with a HS diploma or equivalent; valid IL Class C driver's license; CPR/First Aid/AED or willingness to certify. Prior parks maintenance experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and high school graduate or equivalent.
• Prior experience in parks maintenance or related field preferred.
• Must possess a valid Class C Illinois Driver’s License or obtain within 6 months of hire.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification or willingness to become certified within a specified time frame.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a crew leader for park turf grass areas.
• Operates wide-area mower to cut district turf grass.
• Supervises seasonal mowing staff on daily tasks and safe operations.
• Assists with turf maintenance including aerating, seeding, sodding.
• Assists with litter removal and sports field preparation.
• Removes snow and assists with park district snow removal duties as needed.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and submits daily reports.
