Job summary

South Suburban Park and Recreation District is seeking a Lead Maintenance Specialist to supervise park maintenance crews and oversee irrigation, turf care, and landscape operations. The role requires coordinating daily tasks, ensuring safety, and maintaining facilities across multiple parks.

Responsibilities include training staff, scheduling crews, and performing inspections of grounds, irrigation systems, and play equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Three years progressive skilled labor experience in park/grounds maintenance or related fields.
• Combination of experience and education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily activities of park maintenance crew including staff and seasonal workers.
• Maintain irrigation systems, turf, shrubs, trees, and facility grounds.
• Schedule, assign, and evaluate projects and personnel; coordinate resources.
• Read water meters, activate irrigation, and winterize systems; respond to emergencies.
• Train personnel on safe equipment operation and proper maintenance procedures.
