Job summary

The City of Murfreesboro is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to conduct maintenance and upkeep of parks, grounds, buildings, athletic fields and related facilities within the Recreation Department.

This safety‑sensitive role requires the ability to communicate in English, operate power equipment, perform light repairs, and help prepare venues for events while ensuring safe, clean public spaces.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or GED, which may be waived by work experience.
• Experience in landscaping or closely related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mows and maintains grass using power equipment and riding mowers.
• Opens/closes park facilities and prepares fields for use.
• Loads/unloads dirt, gravel and debris; cleans and services equipment.
• Picks up trash and maintains restrooms and pavilions.
• Performs light repair work on equipment and structures; repairs irrigation systems.
• Movessets up for park events and assists with setup of chairs and bleachers.
