Job summary

Guilford County seeks a Parks Maintenance Worker to support year‑round upkeep of county parks and open spaces. You will perform mowing, landscaping, equipment operation, and basic repairs while ensuring safety and cleanliness across facilities.

The role requires outdoor work in varying conditions, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to respond to emergencies and assist park patrons. Preference for pesticide applicator licensing and prior grounds maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED with six months grounds maintenance experience OR demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• N.C. Pesticides Applicators License preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and operate basic maintenance tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain county parks and open space, including mowing, weeding, fertilizing, landscaping, and debris removal.
• Operate landscape and light construction equipment and handle tools safely.
• Perform clerical tasks: inventory park supplies and collect funds, completing daily reports.
• Inspect facilities, arrange repairs, and coordinate with supervisors on maintenance needs.
• Clean facilities, restrooms, and manage waste; assist with parking and crowd control for events.
• Provide customer service to park patrons and respond to emergencies as needed.
