Job summary

Rockford Park District in Rockford, IL, seeks a Maintenance 3 at Clarence Hicks Sports Complex. This part-time, 0.94 FTE role handles landscaping, cleaning, routine maintenance, minor repairs, equipment operation, event setup, shelter rentals, and supports seasonal staff.

The position may serve as Manager on Duty, requires strong customer service, and reports to the Youth Sports Program Supervisor. Must be 18+, HS diploma or GED, and 3–5 years maintenance experience (supervisory preferred).

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of maintenance experience, supervisory experience preferred.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification may be obtained through the Rockford Park District.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily work orders safely and efficiently.
• Open/close stadium complex according to procedures.
• Coordinate field preparation for practices, games, tournaments, and meets.
• Provide on-site oversight of maintenance operations during events.
• Oversee complex readiness for large-scale events.
• Manage event setup including barricades, signage, and field access control.
• Assist with planning and execution of complex improvement projects.
• Deliver excellent customer service to patrons, coaches, officials, leagues, and guests.
• May serve as facility representative during events and tournaments.
• Respond to community concerns related to field conditions.
• Ensure cleanliness and game-day presentation.
• Oversee shelter rentals, including setup, cleanup, and support.
