Job summary

Canada's Wonderland is seeking a skilled installer/technician to support installation, construction, maintenance and operation of park events and attractions. The role includes hands-on theatrical techniques with expertise in special effects.

Responsibilities include leading teams to install pneumatic/electrical infrastructure, assembling complex mechanical structures, and maintaining effects for shows. High school diploma required; associate degree preferred; 1–2 years experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree or vocational/technical training in theatrical design or visual display preferred.
• 1–2 years of relevant work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble advanced mechanical special effect structures per blueprints.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair special effects for events and shows.
• Translate plans into practical materials and mechanical components.
• Design and fabricate moving structures using pneumatic and electrical parts.
• Test and refine mechanical movements for realism and durability.
• Design and build animation control systems (timers, relays, PLCs).

Overview: The primary responsibility of this position entails the installation, construction, maintenance and operation of a variety of park events and attractions. Duties for this position also include providing knowledgeable hands‑on theatrical techniques with comprehensive skills in special effects.

Salary Details: $26.86 / hr

Responsibilities

• Lead small groups in the construction and installation of temporary and permanent pneumatic and electrical infrastructures in a variety of venues.
• Assemble advanced mechanical special effect structures adhering to blueprints.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair special effects at an advanced level for events and regular park shows.
• Translate plans and designers' concepts into practical materials and existing mechanical components (bearings, motors, air cylinders, etc.).
• Design, layout, and lead the fabrication of moving structures using pneumatic and electrical components.
• Test and perfect mechanical movements for durability and realism.
• Design and construct animation control systems (timers, PLCs, relays, etc.).
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma / GED required.
• Associate's degree / vocational or technical school degree, emphasis in Theatrical Design/visual Display preferred.
• At least 1-2 years of prior, relevant work experiencepreferred.
• User of basic hand toolsand power tools,gluesand adhesives.Floral design helpful.Ability to sketch and convey design concepts. Basic Scenic painting skills preferred.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holiday based on business needs.
