Summary
The City of College Park Building & Grounds Department is accepting applications for the seasonal position of Park Attendant for the 2024 Spring, Summer & Fall Seasons.
A successful candidate will play an active role in the City of College Park’s operational success. The position supports the goals of the Building & Grounds and Recreation & Cultural Arts Departments, which aim to enhance the quality of life for all citizens by providing diverse leisure, recreational, and informational services, and by developing and maintaining parks, facilities, open spaces, and trails.
Essential Functions
- Monitor City facilities and oversee their use by citizens and the public; manage rental agreements.
- Maintain supplies for park sanitation; pick up paper and trash.
- Perform general cleaning of buildings and restrooms.
- Report incidents, injuries, and damages to the supervisor promptly, following departmental protocols.
- Visit multiple parks and fields during shifts to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate with Public Works personnel via cell phone/radio regarding issues or safety concerns.
- Open and close parks, patrol and secure facilities, and report repairs needed for playground and picnic equipment.
- Maintain sanitation, perform janitorial and landscaping duties, and manage litter and receptacle maintenance across facilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned, with the understanding that duties may be expanded as needed.
Tentative Work Schedule
Late afternoons/evenings on weekdays, weekends, holidays, with additional hours available during the week.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor in all weather conditions.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to perform active work for extended periods, including walking, standing, climbing, bending, and using tools.
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance, safety regulations, and city policies.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions, read blueprints, maps, and diagrams.
- Attention to detail, adaptability, and dependability.
- High school diploma or GED required; six months experience in recreation, hospitality, or customer service preferred.
- Valid Driver's License from Georgia required.
- Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.
