Job summary

St. Mary's Church in Landover Hills, MD is seeking a part-time Communication and Social Media Coordinator to strengthen our parish and school's digital presence.

You will manage social media accounts, create engaging content reflecting Catholic identity, and support clear, mission-driven communication with families, parishioners, and the wider community. Reporting to the Pastor, the role blends creativity with pastoral sensitivity, tracks engagement, and helps promote events and initiatives

Qualifications

• Faithful to the Catholic Church and teachings.
• Strong writing and editing skills with a warm, pastoral tone.
• Familiarity with Catholic parish life and faith-based communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage and update parish and school social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
• Create engaging content reflecting Catholic identity, parish life, school activities, and upcoming events.
• Capture photos and short videos at parish and school events when needed.
• Monitor messages and online conversations; respond or route inquiries appropriately.
• Maintain a consistent brand voice rooted in hospitality, faith, and community.
• Maintain and update the Parish website.
• Gather information from pastors, principals, staff, and ministry leaders for promotions.
• Maintain communication calendars for parish and school.
• Assist with promotional materials for parish events and school programs.
• Ensure communication reflects Catholic values and teachings.
• Track engagement metrics and provide simple monthly reports.
