Job summary

Santa Cruz Catholic Church seeks a Director of Accounting to manage all parish and school accounting operations, including payroll, budgeting, and financial reporting. The role reports to the Pastor and coordinates with the Finance Council.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in nonprofit accounting, proficiency with QuickBooks and Bill.com, and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Strong leadership and adherence to diocesan guidelines are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited American university.
• Five (5) or more years of related accounting experience. Nonprofit or fund accounting experience preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function across the parish and the school.
• Perform day‑to‑day accounting: general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll.
• Prepare checks, bank deposits, and reconciliations; maintain parish investments and bank accounts.
• Prepare and manage the parish budget; provide reports to Finance Council and department heads.
• Oversee payroll, including 403(b) contributions and health insurance.
