Job summary

St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Surprise, AZ is seeking a Custodian/Maintenance Worker to maintain church and grounds, perform cleaning, and support parish events. The role includes routine cleaning, basic repairs, and assisting with projects as directed.

The ideal candidate will have janitorial experience, ability to lift 50+ pounds, and comfort with outdoor maintenance. Valid AZ driver's license and ability to pass a background check are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess janitorial skills and general knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, sanitation, and janitorial supplies and their applications.
• Working knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods and safety practices involved in building, grounds maintenance and repair, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and painting.
• Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimum supervision, with attention to detail and multi-tasking.
• Able to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Church buildings and grounds to be cleaned and maintained in a healthy, safe and attractive environment.
• Performs minor repair work on plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other facilities.
• Assist Director of Maintenance with projects and with moving equipment and preparing for parish events.
• Perform routine cleaning: sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, window washing, disinfecting surfaces.
• Restock supplies and maintain storages and carts.
