Evergreen Public Schools seeks a Part-Time Parent Notification Assistant at Burton Elementary School in Vancouver, Washington. The position supports the principal and is scheduled for 1 hour per day (10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.), 190 days per year, with a permanent classification as Paraeducator Class I.

Starting date is immediate. Duties include contacting parents about student absences by phone or letter, maintaining a daily absence log, recording absence reasons, and following up on unexcused

Hours / Work Times

1.0 Hours Per Day (10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.)

190 days per year (180 student days / 10 holidays)

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 09/24/26.

Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under the supervision of the building Principal, the Parent Notification Assistant is responsible for contacting parents and/or guardians by telephone and inquiring as to the status of student absences. Elementary building enrollment varies from approximately 464 to 790 students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Communicate effectively by telephone or letter to parents and/or guardians, inquiring as to the status of student absences.
  • Establish and maintain a daily log of absences.
  • Record reasons for absences on log.
  • Report communicable diseases to Special Services/Health Records on a weekly basis.
  • Follow up on two or more unexcused absences with a letter to the parents and a report to the District's Student Welfare and Attendance Specialist.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Input attendance information into the computer.
  • Produce lunch count and telephone count into the food service contractor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
