Eligible employees may accrue sick leave at the rate of one (1) hours of sick leave for every 40 hours worked under Washington State Law. Upon working 630 hours in a school year, eligible employees may be eligible for insurance benefits through School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) which includes medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life and AD&D insurance.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible to the Building/District Athletic Director/Coordinator.
  • Must be able to attend all after school practices, games, tournaments, meetings etc.
  • Must be able to drive district van to transport participants.
  • Be responsible for all matters pertaining to the organization and administration of the coaching of the team under his/her direction. Enforce all rules of the league, state and national association as they pertain to the respective sports.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with students, staff, parents, and community by modeling respect, cooperation, and professionalism with others, recognizing the personal achievements and professional contributions of others and demonstrating knowledge of a sensitivity toward individuals and groups from all racial, ethnic/cultural, national socio-economic backgrounds.
  • A completed and signed parental permission form and physical examination card shall be in the hands of the coach or athletic office prior to an athlete beginning practice. Assure that players and coaches under his/her jurisdiction understand the training rule policy. These forms are to be returned to the athletic director promptly.
  • Cooperate with the administration, athletic director, fellow coaches and students to promote the best interests of the entire athletic program.
  • Work with the District Athletic Director in the appointment and dismissal of assistant coaches in grades 7 - 12.
  • Have meetings with assistant coaches to coordinate coaching methods at different levels; assign duties to all assistant coaches; assist the District Athletic Director in evaluating the performance of assistant coaches in grades 7 - 12.
  • Conform to Evergreen Public Schools policy in ordering equipment and supplies for the sport involved.
  • See that all candidates for a team have returned a properly completed clearance form.
  • See that all candidates for a team have had a physical examination and have returned the physical examination/parental consent form before the first practice session.
  • Prepare a roster of all team members. Have participants fill out the athletic eligibility form from which the master eligibility list will be compiled. Both should be in the athletic office one week prior to the first game.
  • Assume responsibility for conduct of contestants in sport involved.
  • Assume responsibility for a group until all athletes are dressed and have left the building. This responsibility can be delegated to an assistant coach. Secure all gates, dressing rooms, lockers and gymnasium facilities before leaving the area.
  • Accompany and supervise the team to and from all contests.
  • Plan and supervise all practice sessions.
  • Work with the Athletic Trainer.
  • Conform to district policy to assure that students are not given keys to enter buildings when the coach is not present.
  • Attend scheduled school meetings unless excused. During sports season, coaches shall check with principal or department chairperson as to what transpired at a meeting that the coach was unable to attend.
  • Arrange for the cleaning, storing, and conducting an inventory of all uniforms and equipment.
  • Complete all requirements mandated by State - WIAA.
  • Be active in professional organizations such as the state coaches association.
  • Clarify to athletes the letter award policy.
  • Recommend student athletes for special awards. (All-League)
  • Check arrangements for all transportation with the Building Athletic Director.
  • Assume supervisory control over all levels of teams in the program.
  • See that facility regulations are understood and enforced.
  • Emphasize safety precautions and use accepted training and injury procedures.
  • Report outcome of the contest to the media.
  • Maintain records of the team and individual accomplishments.
  • Recommend additions and or improvements for the care and maintenance of facilities.
  • Submit recommendations for the schedule for the next year.
