The Learning Lamp in Fayette County, PA is seeking a dedicated part-time Early Childhood Education staffer to provide parent education and family support using the Parents as Teachers curriculum.

You will promote healthy child development from pregnancy through kindergarten, conduct developmental screenings, and work with a team to deliver engaging activities in a home-visit setting. Bachelor’s degree and current clearances are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is mandatory.
• Clearances must be current and kept up to date.
• Experience with children or as a parent/volunteer is acceptable.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and hold a valid PA driver's license.

Responsabilités

• Provide parent education, developmental information, and family support during home visits.
• Promote healthy development of children from pregnancy to kindergarten.
• Deliver home-based early childhood education using Parents as Teachers curriculum.
• Conduct child developmental screenings (vision, hearing, language, motor, health).
• Collaborate with staff to plan engaging activities for children in classroom and playground.
• Safely care for children during meals, diapering, cleaning, and supervision.
• Follow safety regulations learned in employee development training.

What are the duties and responsibilities?

• Provides parent education, developmental information and family support to parents through personal home visits.
• Promote the healthy development of children from pregnancy to kindergarten.
• Utilize the nationally recognized “Parents as Teachers” curriculum to deliver quality home-based early childhood education, developmentally age-appropriate resources and effective child-parent interaction techniques
• Conduct child developmental screenings including vision, hearing, the understanding and use of language, motor development, hand-eye coordination, and health and physical development.
• Collaborating with other Child Care Staff to plan and execute fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities for the children in the classroom and on the playground;
• Caring for vulnerable young children when preparing snacks/meals, changing diapers, cleaning and supervising;
• Safeguarding each child when cleaning the classroom, adhering to the safety and security regulations you learn through our employee development training.

What are the required qualifications?

• MUST have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social services or other related field.
• Previous experience with children, and this does not have to be in a childcare center! Are you a parent? Have you volunteered with children before? Are you a former or retired teacher? All of these are examples of some of the many ways our staff have experience with children.
• Other:
• • Appropriate clearances and trainings: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History Report, NSOR clearance, and Mandated Reporter Training. Clearances must be kept current.
  • Physical done within one year prior to start date
  • TB test within three months prior to start date
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
• Valid PA Driver’s License
