B-Metro: Paratransit Services in Brownsville is seeking a part-time Transit Operator (Non-CDL) to run downtown routes with strict schedules. You will ensure safety, punctuality, and courteous service for the public.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and a Texas Class C license. Expect varied shifts, including evenings and weekends, with mandatory safety and background checks.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License Class C.
• The City of Brownsville requires all employees to successfully pass a Drug & Alcohol and a physical examination and a Background Check.

Responsibilities

• Operates city vehicle on downtown circular with prescribed time schedules and supports other non-CDL transit services.
• Inspects and performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections; reports defects.
• Comply with State and local traffic laws, safety rules, and procedures.
• Document accidents and incidents in detail as required.
• Provide friendly customer service and information about schedules, routes, fares, and City services.
• Operate wheelchair lift/ramp and assist passengers safely.
