Job summary

Antech Diagnostics seeks a Parasitology Laboratory Aide to join the night shift team in Chicago. You will collect and process fecal samples, build experiment loads and perform Giardia ELISA prep as needed, under supervision.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to work independently and within a team, and adherence to SOPs in a lab with exposure to biohazards. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Collect fecal specimens and prepare for analysis.
• Meet department requirements for loads and setup rates.
• Accurately build loads and label processing tubes.
• Split specimens for Giardia ELISA when required.
• Maintain storage and equipment, including hoods and centrifuges.
• Follow SOPs and maintain clean, organized work area.
• Crosstrain and learn multiple lab specialties.
• Support lab efficiency and quality improvements.
• Consult with senior peers on non-complex tasks.

Work Shift: 11pm-7:30am Monday–Saturday, With Two Scheduled Days Off Each Week. Weekend Coverage Is Required.

The Target Pay for this position is $18.80 an hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

Job Purpose/Overview

The Parasitology LaboratoryAideis responsible forthe collection,processing and preparing of fecal samples.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. • Collect fecal specimens from login, scan into loads, and prepare for set up.

• Meet allminimumdepartment requirements for para loadsandFcomboset-up rates.

• Accurately building loads and label processing tubes

• Split specimens for Giardia ELISA whenrequired

• Find missing specimens. Print and reconcile queue list

• Maintain organization of storage refrigerator

• Maintain all equipment including hoods, centrifuges, etc.

• Awareness of quality control and calibration

• Crosstrainanddevelop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab.

• Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), including safety and quality procedures. Maintains clean and organized work area. Restocks supplies as needed

• Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.

• Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

• Stationary Position- must be able toremainin a stationary position for up to 2 hours.
