Job summary

Ohio State University is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support parasitology work in Veterinary Medicine / Veterinary Preventive Medicine. The role involves fecal sample collection from research animals, lab maintenance, and collaboration with researchers.

Qualifications

Receive at least 75% of their training toward their BS or BA in biological sciences field.
Knowledge of biomedical research laboratory terminology.
Ability to pipet, calculate volumes, make buffers; good eye-hand coordination and vision to see 1–2 ul.

Responsibilities

Collect fecal samples from research animals.
Assist in processing and evaluation of parasitology sampling.
Laboratory maintenance: cleaning glassware, ordering supplies, retrieving, photocopying, making buffers.
Comply with EH&S and ULAR requirements for laboratory work or animal handling.
Communicate with research collaborators to arrange sample submission and scheduling.
Assist in record keeping.
