Responsibilities

• Prepare instructional material and learning activities in assigned classroom
• Provide direct instruction to groups of students or individuals in or out of the classroom
• Implement individualized and small group instruction and discussions
• Accommodate and modify materials to match students' needs as prescribed by the teacher
• Assist with the collection of student data
• Consult with teachers on students' progress and strategies
• Supervise unstructured time such as recess and/or lunch duty
• Assist the teacher in clean-up
• Assist with escorting children to and from vehicles at drop-off/pick-up
• Assist students in using technology
• Assist substitutes in following lesson plans when teacher absent
• Ability to lift 30 lbs independently
• Participation in toileting activities as required
• Provide other related duties as assigned

Job Description

THIS IS A 5 DAY EMERGENCY POSTING
These positions are 35 hours per week (7 hours per day including a 1/2 hr unpaid lunch break). Please view the salary classifications/schedule which can be found on our website under Human Resources - collective bargaining agreements.

• Prepare instructional material and learning activities in assigned classroom.
• Provide direct instruction to groups of students or individuals in or out of the classroom.
• Implementation of individualized and small group instruction and discussions
• Accommodating and modifying materials to match students’ needs as prescribed by the teacher.
• Assist with the collection of student data.
• Consult with teachers on students’ progress and on specific strategies and methodologies to be used.
• Supervise unstructured time such as recess and/or lunch duty unless directed otherwise.
• Assist the teacher in clean-up.
• Assists with any other tasks students are not able to perform for themselves
• Depending on assignment, provide assistance in escorting children to and from vehicles during drop-off or pick-up.
• Assist students in using technology.
• Assist substitutes in following lesson plans when classroom teacher is absent
• Ability to lift 30lbs. independently
• Willingness to participate in toileting activities is required.
• Provide other related duties that the principal, assistant principal, Director of Student Services, and/or teacher may assign
