Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Illinois paraprofessional certificate registered in Peoria County.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Model teacher’s instructional methods when working with individual and groups of students.
• Provide tutorial help for students.
• Observe interactions with children who have special learning needs and apply similar instructional practices.
• Observe student academic and social-emotional behaviors, report observations to the classroom teacher.
• Assist with maintaining classroom order by following behavior management procedures.
• Ensure safety and well-being of students on school grounds and during non-academic activities.
• Attend meetings and participate in professional development.
• Assist with clerical tasks including attendance, materials duplication, newsletters, record keeping and monthly reports.
• Communicate with students' parents/guardians as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the certificated classroom teacher.
