Job summary

Lorain City Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to assist classroom teachers and support students with individualized education programs. The role follows district policies and state requirements for paraeducator qualifications.

The position is scheduled for 6.75 hours per day, five days a week during the school year, totaling 189 work days. Applicants must meet ESSA/ORC credentials and obtain an Educational Aid Permit as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be a highly-qualified paraprofessional under ESSA and ORC 3319.074.
• Demonstrates ability to support special education through required credentials.
• Satisfy Ohio requirements for educational aide permits.

Responsibilities

• Support students under supervision of licensed staff.

Required Certification(s)

• must be a highly-qualified paraprofessional under the provisions of ESSA and ORC 3319.074 by evidencing one of the following requirements:
• Associate of Arts Degree or higher (official transcripts required); OR
• two years of college totaling 48 or more semester hours (official transcripts required); OR
• passing score of 456 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment (copy of ParaPro Assessment results).
• AND must have or be able to obtain an Educational Aid Permit through the Ohio Department of Education
