Job summary

Lowell Community Charter Public School in Lowell, MA, invites applications for a paraprofessional role to support English language learners and aid student growth in K-8 classrooms.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or Para Pro test completed.
  • Experience in public education in an urban setting preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with classroom setup and prepare instructional materials.
  • Assist teacher in maintaining discipline and other classroom functions.
  • Plan, develop and implement class curriculum approved by the teacher.
  • Provide instructional support services under the supervision of the teacher.
  • Provide corrective feedback to students and re-teach as necessary.
  • Serve as mentor to the students.
  • Communicate, collaborate and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors and students.
  • Support individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning activities.
  • Assist instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials.
  • Assist in administering pre- and post-testing.
  • Conduct parental involvement activities.
  • May be asked to support students in unified arts classes (Art, Music, World Cultures, PE and Library)
  • Complete written reports and assigned tasks related to the functions
  • Participate in meetings as requested
  • Assist with assessments, data collection, behavior plans and transitions.
  • May be asked to attend curriculum meetings and classroom team meetings.
  • Follow the schedule provided by the supervising teacher
  • Cover classes when needed.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of current educational practices
