Job summary

Sumter School District is seeking a Paraprofessional (Pre-K) for Crosswell Drive Elementary. The incumbent will assist the classroom teacher in creating a positive learning environment and deliver targeted reading and math support to identified students.

Qualifications include an Associate's degree or 60 credit hours, Praxis Para Pro or equivalent, and relevant elementary school experience. This role follows the district pay schedule and supports instructional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the classroom teacher, helps maintain a positive learning environment.
• Assists with implementing daily learning experiences aligned with grade-level practices.
• Collaborates with the teacher on curricular planning and classroom management.
• Provides individualized instruction to identified students in reading and mathematics.
• Supports teachers with progress monitoring and data retrieval for interventions.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or administrator.

Performance Responsibilities

• Under the direction of theclassroom teacher, helps to maintain and oversee a positive learning environment.
• Assists the teacher in implementing appropriate daily learning experiences that are congruentwith the approved practices for the grade level and/or class compositionand aligned with the instructional mission of the school and district.
• Collaborates with theteacher as appropriate to help ensure that informed decisions are maderegarding curricular planning, classroom environment issues, andinstructional practices.
• Assists the teacher inproviding any unique and/or special accommodations required for students.
• Helps the teacher promotea safe, secure, healthy learning environment.
• Works with othersconsistently in a cooperative and respectful manner.
• Provides individualized instruction to identified students and small groups who are experiencing difficulty in reading and mathematics.
• Plans instructional activities that meet students' individual needs, interests, and abilities in reading and mathematics.
• Advises teachers about students' progress throughout the course of intervention.
• Helps to retrieve the performance data of students being served so teachers could analyze it to evaluate intervention effectiveness and determine progress.
• Helps to maintain and oversee a positive learning environment under the direction of a properly-certified teacher.
• Performs all other dutiesas assigned.
• Works with others consistently in a cooperative and respectful manner
