Job summary

McClernand Elementary School in Springfield, Illinois is seeking a Paraprofessional Classroom K-2 STRIVE to assist the teacher and support students with daily activities. The role includes supervision in lunchroom and on the playground, as well as helping prepare classroom materials and assist with student care.

The position is full-time, 7 hours per day (includes a 30‑minute unpaid lunch), 191 days per year, with an immediate starting date.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ for Pre-K through 5th grade or 20+ for 6th-12th grade.
• Must have Educator Licensure with Stipulation or valid Illinois Teaching Licensure or 90-day sub licensure; provide proof of college hours or pass required tests.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with students in the classroom.
• Supervise students in lunchroom, playground, and during bus transitions.
• Assist with copying materials under teacher supervision.
• Help with feeding/toileting of students requiring total care.
• Assist with lifting/ positioning of non-ambulatory students.
• Support student with self-help skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
