Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education; associate’s degree or higher; or met the Paraprofessional Academic Assessment.
• Knowledge of special education disabilities and classifications, process and laws preferable.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Knowledge in all academic areas.
• CPI certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with individualized goals and IEP objectives; support life skills, math, reading and pre-academic skills.
• Provide health and safety support, including managing medical issues and assisting with feeding or mobility as needed.
• Support social-emotional learning, behavior management and communication using assistive devices.
• Assist with data collection, progress monitoring and reporting to teachers and parents.
• Attend IEP meetings as necessary and maintain confidentiality per FERPA.
