Function
Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements; work under supervision of certified teacher.

Responsibilities
Instructional Support
- Assist teacher in preparing and presenting instructional materials
- Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
Student Management
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups on learning activities
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom; this includes, but is not limited to, lunchroom, bus, and job site.
- Provide personal care to include diapering and other essential needs, medical care, and feeding of students as stated in IEP
- Keep administrator informed of special needs or problems of individual students
Other
- Assist with routine record keeping
- Follow behavior plans as directed by teacher and ARD Committee
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
- Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned
- Comply with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
- Adhere to the District's safety policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of District business
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or District employees in the specific work site assigned (classroom or office setting)
- Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
- Other duties as assigned

- Ability to deal effectively with special education ethical and legal issues on an on-going basis that involve parent(s)/guardian(s), students, administration, campus-based personnel, community agencies, and other professionals.

- Frequent District-wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged hours.
- Frequent moving, standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, moving small stacks, moving classroom or adaptive equipment
