Job summary

Southwest Local Schools invites applications for Paraprofessional I in multiple buildings, including Harrison Elementary, Miami Whitewater Elementary, and Harrison Junior School. The role supports special education students to meet IEP goals under the supervision of an intervention specialist.

The position offers 32.5 hours per week at a pay rate of $17.10 per hour with stretch pay. Benefits include retirement, health, dental, vision, life insurance, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Valid certificate / license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student, staff, or sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Confers with teacher and/or appropriate personnel for the purpose of assisting in the evaluation of students' progress and/or implementing students' IEP objectives.
• Adapts classroom work/homework under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
• Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of assisting the teacher in evaluating students' progress and/or recognizing individual needs of the student.
• Assists teachers and parents for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and developing students' daily living and behavioral skills.
• Assists students to participate in Art, Music, PE and all academic subject objectives.
• Maintains classroom equipment, students' files/records for the purpose of ensuring a safe and appropriate learning environment.
• Provides assistance to student with toileting, feeding, building mobility and dressing needs including services that may be invasive but not performed by a clinician.
• Performs record keeping and basic clerical functions for the purpose of supporting the teacher.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving safety concerns.
• Meets any additional requirements to meet paraprofessional licensing.
• Performs other duties as assigned by teacher and/or administrator.

Education
