Job summary

Gloucester Township Public Schools is looking for a Paraprofessional I - Library Aide to support attendance, health checks, classroom and library duties at Blackwood Elementary School in Gloucester Township, NJ. The role requires interaction with students, staff, and health checks, with duties spanning clerical tasks and library operations.

The position reports to the Principal and operates within a 10-month/Full-Time framework under GTSPA terms.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of criminal history background check.
• Proof of US citizenship.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and speak English and perform simple math.
• Must be physically able to perform duties; any disability that is a hazard is disqualifying.
• Ability to hear conversational voice, with or without hearing aid.
• Good vision, with or without glasses.
• Ability to follow written or oral directions.
• Knowledge of basic office skills, including proficiency in computer programs and record keeping.
• Strong communication and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily attendance of students and record in Real Time.
• Assist school nurse with health checks and record data in Real Time.
• Assist with daily care of students (temperature checks, dressings, ice packs).
• Collect and file employee emergency cards.
• Maintain first aid kits for sport groups.
• Process student and staff accident reports.
• General office duties: duplicating, sorting, distributing, filing.
• Assist office staff with clerical tasks (filing, copying, phones).
• Scan, sort and shelve returned books and periodicals.
• Operate circulation desk and manage circulation files and overdue loans.
• Monitor barcodes/spine labels and notify librarian for new labels.
• Monitor shelf labels and rearrange shelves as needed.
• Assist with playground supervision, bus loading/unloading, lunchroom, or other duties.
