• Ability to read, write and speak English and perform simple math.
• Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position; disqualifying conditions apply.
• Ability to hear conversational voice, with or without hearing aid.
• Good vision, with or without glasses.
• Ability to follow written or oral directions.
• Ability to work with all types of students under varied conditions.
• Previous experience working with children preferred.
• Endeavors to obtain background in related fields of education.

• Keep student(s) on task for the programs taught by the teacher.
• Reinforce appropriate behavior in accordance with the teacher's plan.
• Review/reinforce skills in the classroom (small groups, one-on-one instruction).
• Assist student(s) in the classroom (i.e. hand over hand for handwriting).
• Assist student(s) with feeding, if necessary.
• Assist student(s) with toileting/dressing, if needed.
• Listen and read to students.
• After each activity, assist with clean-up process so that the next activity can be started effectively and quickly.
• Prepare instructional materials.
• General office duties (i.e. duplicating, sorting, distributing, filing).
• Assist with playground supervision, bus loading/unloading, monitor the lunchroom, or other duties assigned by the Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Passing score on the Para Pro Assessment or 48 college credits.

EVALUATION
