Job summary

Illinois State University is hiring a Paraprofessional for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support students in the HILIA program at Thomas Metcalf School. The paraprofessional works directly with students during the school day and models appropriate use of language and speech when communicating with children who have hearing loss. Hours are 7:30 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday. Pay ranges from $15.18 to $19.73 per hour with funding through June 30, 2027.

Qualifications

• Must hold Paraprofessional Educator's License with Stipulations Endorsement from ISBE.
• Experience signing/interpreting with students who have hearing loss preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support students in the HILIA program during the school day.
• Model appropriate use of language and speech when communicating with children who have hearing loss.
• Transition between classrooms to support students as needed.

This role follows the academic calendar and is subject to layoff during the summer break.
