Job summary

Highfields Inc. is seeking a Paraprofessional for the Reaching Higher Afterschool Program at Townsend Elementary School in Vandercook Lake, MI. You will work with students in grades 3-6, providing academic enrichment and tutoring support.

The role emphasizes mentorship, positive student relationships, and adherence to licensing and grant requirements within a flexible 2.5- hour daily schedule, Monday through Thursday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of experience with youth in a structured program.
• Demonstrates good character with emotional stability and strength.

Responsibilities

• Engage students during academic enrichment activities.
• Assist youth with homework and provide tutoring support.
• Manage students in a safe and productive manner.
• Be a mentor and role model for students.
• Build positive relationships with students, families and staff.
• Attend mandatory meetings and complete paperwork as required.
• Participate in 18 hours of professional development per year.
• Ensure compliance with Child Day Care Licensing rules and regulations.
• Follow grant requirements and industry quality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $16.00 To $16.00 Hourly

The Paraprofessional will effectively implement engaging academic enrichment activities for students of our Reaching Higher Afterschool Program at:

Townsend Elementary School, Vandercook Lake, MI - working with students in grades 3-6

Program runs Monday through Thursday, working 2.5 hours per day

(You would work whichever days work best for your schedule)

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

• High school diploma/GED.
• Demonstrated knowledge of youth.
• At least 2 years experience working with youth in a structured program setting.
• Shall be a person of good character who possesses the health, emotional stability, maturity and strength to carry out assigned duties.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Engage and assist students during academic enrichment activities.
• Assist youth with homework and provide support for individualized tutoring.
• Manage students in a safe and productive way.
• Conduct yourself in a manner to serve as a mentor and role model.
• Cultivates positive relationships with students, families, and fellow staff.
• Attends all mandatory meetings and completes all paperwork as required.
• Participates in 18 hours of professional development per year that meets licensing requirements.
• Performs duties in a manner that ensures compliance with Child Day Care Licensing rules and regulations.
• Ensures program operates in a way that follows industry quality standards and in accordance with the grant.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
