Job summary

Warsaw Community Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional to support certified teachers in a safe learning environment across multiple district locations. The role reports to the Building Principal and centers on assisting with instructional activities and student progress data.

The position requires a High School Diploma or higher, 48+ college credits or the paraprofessional assessment, and experience with students.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 48 college credits or ability to pass paraprofessional assessment.
• Experience working with students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher with learning activities and materials.
• Supervises students during drills, assemblies, recess, field trips, lunch, and class time.
• Records student progress data for teachers.
• Participates in training as directed by supervisor.
• Supervises students in instructional/assessment activities on and off campus.
• Communicates student progress and needs to the classroom teacher.
• Interacts respectfully with staff and parents.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

PARAPROFESSIONAL

Multiple locations throughout district

Reports to: Building Principal

General Summary: A paraprofessional assists certified teachers in providing a safe learning environment where children’s individual needs are met.

Essential Functions:

• Assists the teacher with the learning activities of students and preparation of student’s instruction materials.


• Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, recess, field trips, lunch times, and classrooms as needed.


• Assists teacher with recording student progress data.


• Participates in general and job specific training as determined by the supervising teacher and principal.


• Supervises students in instructional and/or assessment activities both on and off campus at the direction of the teacher.


• Communicates with the classroom teacher on student progress and/or special needs of students.


• Interacts respectfully with staff and parents.


• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.


• Performs other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.

Qualifications:

• Education – High School Diploma (minimum) and


• Required: 48+ college credits or the ability to pass the Paraprofessional Assessment.


• Experience – Evidence of experience working with students

Length of Position: 36 weeks(for the school year)
