Job summary

Warsaw Community Schools is seeking a paraprofessional to assist certified teachers in providing a safe learning environment that meets students' individual needs. The role includes helping with learning activities, supervising students, and recording progress.

The position requires a high school diploma, 48+ college credits or passing the paraprofessional assessment, and prior experience with students, with the ability to lift 50 pounds. 36 weeks per school year; non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma (minimum) and 48+ college credits or ability to pass Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Experience working with students.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher with learning activities and preparation of instructional materials.
• Supervises students during drills, assemblies, recess, field trips, lunch, and classrooms as needed.
• Assists with recording student progress data.
• Participates in training as determined by supervising teacher and principal.
• Supervises students in instructional and/or assessment activities on/off campus as directed.
• Communicates student progress and/or special needs to the classroom teacher.
• Interacts respectfully with staff and parents.
• Performs other duties as assigned by principal or supervising teacher.

General Summary: A paraprofessional assists certified teachers in providing a safe learning environment where children’s individual needs are met.

Essential Functions:

• Assists the teacher with the learning activities of students and preparation of student’s instruction materials.
• Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, recess, field trips, lunch times, and classrooms as needed.
• Assists teacher with recording student progress data.
• Participates in general and job specific training as determined by the supervising teacher and principal.
• Supervises students in instructional and/or assessment activities both on and off campus at the direction of the teacher.
• Communicates with the classroom teacher on student progress and/or special needs of students.
• Interacts respectfully with staff and parents.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
• Performs other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.

Qualifications:

• Education – High School Diploma (minimum) and
• Required: 48+ college credits or the ability to pass the Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Experience – Evidence of experience working with students

Length of Position: 36 weeks(for the school year)
