Job summary

Leona Group Schools in Arizona is seeking a paraprofessional to assist classroom teachers in delivering instruction and supporting students with daily objectives, tutoring, and translation as needed. You will help create a positive learning environment and reinforce classroom routines on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities include supporting the teacher, attending conferences, maintaining records, and potentially participating in extracurricular activities.

Qualifications

• Evidence of successful experience in student relations.
• Good general reading, writing and math skills as evidenced by meeting No Child Left Behind requirements for Paraprofessionals (associate’s degree, 60 college credits, or passing scores).
• Demonstrated proficiency in an instructional support capacity through tutoring, teaching or similar work experience in education.
• IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in accomplishing the teacher’s daily educational objectives; may provide individualized instruction, tutoring, guided practice, translation, or other techniques as guided by the teacher.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment in the classroom; aid in communicating behavior expectations and support for behavior management systems.
• Attend parent/teacher conferences as needed to discuss student performance and behavior.
• May provide non-teaching support by assembling materials, monitoring recess, supervising lunch, etc.
• In the teacher's absence, provide classroom instruction following lesson plans or directions.
• Maintain records and confidentiality; complete documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Participate in school teams and extracurricular activities as assigned (coaching, clubs, tutoring, etc.).
• Other duties as assigned.

• In the temporary absence of the teacher, may provide classroom instruction, following the teacher's lesson plans or other directions.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required. Maintain the confidentiality of student records and student information. Complete any documentation necessary for the academy to be in compliance with regulatory requirements, such as time and effort reporting.
• May serve as an active member of teams such as grade-level, school-wide planning, school improvement or other areas of focus.
• May participate in extracurricular activities such as coaching, clubs, student government, tutoring, enrichment activities, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
