Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time paraprofessional for a Kansas City, MO school district. You will provide 1:1 or small group support to students with significant support needs, helping them with academics, communication, and daily living skills.

Qualifications

• Must have 60 college credits or completed the 20 hour substitute certificate course or ParaPathways/ParaPro assessment.
• Experience working with children or individuals with significant support needs preferred.
• Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with significant support needs.
• Assist students with academic activities, communication, and daily living skills as needed.
• Implement behavior support plans and instructional strategies under the direction of the classroom team.
• Support students with mobility, transitions, and classroom participation.
• Reinforce social, emotional, communication, and functional life skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, therapists, and related service providers.
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
• Maintain basic documentation as needed.
