Role Description

The Paraplanner role at Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC is a full-time, on-site position based in San Diego, CA. This role supports financial advisors by preparing detailed financial plans, assembling client reports, and analyzing investment and retirement scenarios. Day-to-day responsibilities include gathering and organizing client data, conducting financial and investment research, meeting preparation and follow through, and managing new client onboarding. The Paraplanner collaborates closely with advisors to prepare meeting materials, document recommendations, and track follow-up tasks to help ensure timely and accurate service. The role also involves maintaining client files, adhering to compliance requirements, and contributing to a professional, client-centered office environment.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in financial planning and finance, with the ability to apply planning concepts to client situations.
  • Analytical skills to interpret financial data, evaluate investment options, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Knowledge of investments and capital markets, including basic asset classes, diversification, and risk-return principles.
  • Report writing skills to create clear, structured financial plans, presentations, and client summaries.
  • Relevant education such as a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with financial planning software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Detail orientation, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with advisors and client-facing staff.
  • Interest in or progress toward professional designations such as CFP, ChFC, or similar credentials is beneficial.
